And don’t use it as a stepping stone to higher political aspirations.

Maybe NOW the current council members will listen to the people. The vote for Derrick was a vote from the people to be heard. Derrick wants to see alternatives – other possibilities. When people are losing jobs, having to adjust their ways of living – our city council needs to do the same thing! And, to top it off, Derrick has great ideas for bringing in businesses to the area. I think we should have had two like him.

Bennie, you’re delusional to think that Derrick’s win was a referendum. Derrick was already better known than the other candidates (except Rice, who didn’t even try) and did a good job campaigning. I wish Derrick well and look forward to hearing these ideas. But, you had to be living under a rock if you hadn’t noticed that the city has been trying hard for the past year to bring business to the city. Hopefully he can bring more ideas to the table that are original and not part of a platform.

Derrick did a great job campaigning, but won because the voters agreed with what he had to say. I would argue that the Chambliss, endorssed by our own Police, was better known and she didn’t win.

Derrick is a lifelong resident. Angela has been here two years. Derrick ran in 2008 when Angela moved here. Derrick ran a great campaign. He picked one issue that really upset voters and rode the wave – it was smart and set him apart from everyone else. But, let’s see it live up when it comes to policy time.
