Emmer uses sister’s death as inspiration to seek office
October 24, 2010 at 7:00 pm in West Central Tribune
Agonizing pain overwhelmed Tom Emmer’s 38-year-old sister as she lie in bed, but she was too weak to get up. So Emmer moved her legs over the side of the bed, lifted her up and moved her around the room to keep her as comfortable as the woman dying of cancer could be. “I literally slow danced with my sister as she died,” the Republican recalled about those days nearly 11 years ago.

Please give us a break, how much more bull are people like Emmer going to shovel in order to grab some votes?

It upsets you that a candidate spends his own money to campaign… but doesn’t bother you that another candidate has spent, so far, over $11 million dollars of money from big time corporate and Republican contributers on her campaign?
So – your level of upset depends on which side is “buying” votes??

“You just love the smell of the bull from the DFLers, but call in the EPA when it doesn’t smell as good as the DFLers bull”
What? Can you explain that in English, harold? Please?

I can see the comments follow those of their leader. President Obama at a Rhode Island fund raiser today, said, “He said Republicans had driven the economy into a ditch and then stood by and criticized while Democrats pulled it out. Now that progress has been made, he said, “we can’t have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don’t mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.” Wow that sure speaks of “togetherness” and “kumbaya” especially telling people where they can sit in the car. Sad thing is the current driver has no license, flunked the driver’s education class, and didn’t know he was to check the oil and gas when he took the car. ;<) By the way, Breezy, can you tell me how much the Dayton family has spent in their side organizations attacking Emmer? Dayton spent $3 million just to win the primary and coupling his family interests with his own campaign spending, it looks like he will far surpass the $12 million he personally had spent to buy his Senate seat. JMHO.

No, Bob – I cannot tell you how much everyone has spent on campaigning. My point, really, was that Harold only seems to see the Democrat spending, but always turns a blind eye to the Republican spending. This year, as corporations have gained the right to behave as individuals, campaign financing has hit record highs… everywhere. Politics have become intertwined with the almighty dollar, more than ever before. The issues take a back seat, and personal principles have been beaten into the ground… it’s all about the money, the advertising dollars. Which I suppose is only natural in the progression of this consumeristic country…. but it’s still disappointing.
I just find it interesting – when it’s Dems spending money, all I hear about is how they are buying votes. When it’s Reps spending money, they are only doing so to counter what Dems are doing. Funny how the perspective is so different, depending on which side of the isle you prefer.

Breezy – get it straight. When Democrats spend money on races it is to buy votes. When Republicans and their corporations do it, it is simply freedom of speech. Democrats can’t have free speech, because the Republicans are a bunch of fascists.

What is it about Randy’s comment you disagree with, Harold? If you look past the sarcasm, Randy seems to have nailed exactly how you feel…
