Arrest made in Swift County copper thefts

BENSON The Swift County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect Thursday evening in connection with a series of recent burglaries in which copper and metal fittings were stolen from unoccupied vacant homes and abandoned farmyards.

Copper thieves are also responsible for damaging foreclosed homes that usually get boarded up, as well as cutting electrical lines right off of highwire poles. In many cases the damage they do to retrive the copper far outweighs the money they receive for the copper. Of course then again they could care less, its all about a fast buck and little regard for someones property.
