I hope to sell my house next year and am wondering how I can get the JSDC to pay my commission. It’s really a great deal. It should only cost around $12,000 and the economic impact of that sale will be seen throughout the businesses in Jamestown. The buyers will probably need to buy a new mower, paint, landscape, replace some flooring, etc. Not only will they be spending money locally but the appraised value should increase resulting in more taxes. It might also increase the value of all the houses in the neighborhood which means the city will be able to collect even more property tax. It’s a win-win for everyone!!

I don’t see why it wouldn’t be approved. It sounds wonderful and probably will create a couple of jobs so you might be eligible for addtional funding.

What jobs will be created by purchasing a restaurant already up and running and at full staff?

We all complain when the city raises our taxes, but we sit quietly while the city gives away 100,000 dollars of our money to someone who absolutele does not need it. For Gods sake, speak up Jamestown, we are not brain dead, are we? Don’t let our elected officials take advantage of us this way, call your Councilman, Mayor or whoever you need to.

Not only are we giving this guy 100,000, we are also buying two of his condos for 150,000 a piece. They are not even close to worth that much. They have been on the market for over two years and had no one interested in them. He couldn’t find a buyer so taxpayer to the rescue. Shame on the city of Jamestown.

Don’t confuse the JSDC with the City of Jamestown. The mayor does sit on the JSDC, but it is not the City.
