Well, first Bob, you can remove me from the group of “everyone” – I have not one time criticized Bachmann for not asking stimulus money. Others may have… but not I.
Second – per the article – “Despite vocal criticism of the federal stimulus package and a re-election campaign that trades heavily on her opposition to it, Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann sought stimulus funding on at least seven occasions last year.
The requests, which came in August and September of 2009, were released Sunday by the investigative journalism site Center for Public Integrity.” — If you are correct in saying that she was being criticized for NOT requesting stimuls money last year (2009)… well, it looks to me that then she must have been saying she wasn’t requesting the money, when in reality she was.
Still hypocritical.
Also from the article: “The Center for Public Integrity, a nonpartisan Washington-based group, said Bachmann was among almost 2,000 GOP and Democratic stimulus opponents who wrote behind-the-scenes letters requesting funds for projects.”
Big bunch of hypocrits… from both sides of the isle.

I think it is amusing that the paper left Collin Peterson’s name out of the headline. He did exactly the same thing according to the story. Since Peterson is our rep I would think his activities are of more interest to local readers than a story about someone we can’t even vote for/against. No wonder the paper’s circulation has dropped.

I believe Rick is on to something here, because the tribune hasn’t written a story about Collin Peterson the paper’s circulation has dropped. OMG- get off the meds!!!

Rick your right Peterson should also be called out, though Peterson is not out front talking like Bachmann has been. She has been throwing stones in a glass house for many years, perhaps it is time that we start to hold her accountable for breaking some windows!

Rick you are certainly not going to suggest that Bachmann and Peterson are some how equal in their criticism of the stimulus bill are you? Come on Bachmann has gotten 10 times the airtime and screentime than Peterson and she takes full advantage every moment she is front of the camera and mircrophone.

bob krengel – Let me help you with the meaning of the word hypocrite, you seem somewhat confused -she says one thing than does another is why she is a hypocrite. — hypocrite – “a person who professes beliefs and opinions that he or she does not hold in order to conceal his or her real feelings or motives” http://www.thefreedictionary.com/hypocrite

Bob, Another reason she can be called a hypocrite— remember when Bachmann was running around saying Obama was associated with criminals. Here she also associates with criminals, U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann wrote a letter last year recommending a federal pardon for a major campaign contributor who was once convicted of felony money laundering, firearm and drug charges on the basis he had reformed. In the last week, Bachmann also has said numerous times that relationships and advisers of candidates for public office such as Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama are “fair game†for public scrutiny, as they may affect the candidates’ views and beliefs. This link is old, but its still the truth- http://www.sctimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008110260039

Raymond – read what I wrote and then do some thinking. What I was saying is many of you complained over the last few years about her not securing any earmarks for the district. Now when she does, you will note, Breezy called her a hypocrite – which maybe rightly so and I chided Breezy on her post. But one also has to call out those who complained about her not securing earmarks and now complaining and decrying her requesting earmarks, You can’t have it both ways. By the way, I do believe we are adults on this topic, so please raise your level of posting to that of an adult as we are talking about earmarks, not about pardons. .

The article isn’t about her not securing any earmarks for the district. Its about her proclaiming to be against federal stimulus funds , then asked for them anyway. That is why she is a hypocrite. And I believe we are talking about hypocrites and saying one pals around with criminals when she does the same is another example why she is again being a hypocrite again. Like you said, you can’t have it both ways.

I want you to elect me, Michele Bachman. I spoke out against the OBMA administration even going as far as blaming him for the swine flu. I attacked the stimulus package he presented, but later I applied for it because the people I represent needed pets projects. I defended BP which was being juiced by the current Obama administration. I wasn’t worried about dead marine animals or oil pooling all over the ocean, this company was losing profits, people would lose jobs, and they contributed to my election process. People have to stop worrying bout what I do, and listen to what I say. I also stood up to health care reform, and government give aways, but my husband was entitled to some of that government give away money, so my family was getting their share. I did not take a pay cut, and why should I? Why do I have to take a pay cut when I work hard as a double talking representive of my district, this takes talent. Besides, I have agreed with Sara Palin and want to support her for president in 2012, as she has supported me now. Leaders like myself, and Sara Palin is what America needs. We protect those wealthy corporations that can provide jobs and keep our economy rolling, and why shouldn’t they recieve generious tax breaks? We have to protect our CEO’s who are the back bone of any corporation, and what is the big deal if they bailout rich, they have earned it, and people need to get over it. As far as the foreclosure issue, homeowners need to pay their bills, this is the American way, and why should I support dead beats who don’t pay their bills. Our banks depend on collecting the money we gave them, at a low interest, so they could pay it back by charging a higher interest. Why can’t some people see this? If you reelect me Michelle Bachman I promise to continue my relentless attacks on the Obama administration that is spending our tax dollars like it is free. I am Michelle Bachman and once again I aprove my own double talk.

Even though the stimulus package was laid out for the infrastructure, transportation, small businesses to keep the economy rolling, Bachman and others in the no party objected, criticised and attacked the stimulus as wasteful and not needed. Of course those with the biggest objections also spoke without researching the needs of their district and the people they represent. Bachman is the perfect example of a politician who does not think of her district but rather the opinions of those collages in her party. So you step over party lines and ask for some money that will not only promote job growth but improve the quality of the district you represent, then why attack the project and think you can hide this from the voters. These are the underhanded tactics of the new political world. Say anything you feel like saying whether its entirely true or not, then hope no one catches on but grasps it hook line and sinker! Like I mentioned before if you are red or blue you cannot go on saying the things Bachman has been saying and claim to represent your district with honesty and integrity. I have more respect for a politician who can cross party lines, but no respect for someone who lashes out at her rivals and the president then turns around and does the opposite. I feel the voters should send her packing Minnesota can only take so much of the double talk and the wild accusations this women comes up with. Hey I am sure BP would take her on just as FOX took on Palin.
