New CPR guidelines released

Curious as to what studies over what time period led the AHA to change something that’s been highly effective for over 50 yrs.
Having been around for well over 50 yrs. myself, and CPR Certified since the 60′s, something is telling me these changes are more for the benefit of a handful of egos in the AMA hierarchy rather than for those who would benefit from CPR.
If it’s workin’, don’t ‘fix’ it.
