I was short on your Ask Your Government questions for a few days. Therefore, I decided to ask a question that I’ve always wondered before I return to your questions next week.

I can’t speak for NDDOT, but when I worked for KDOT (Kansas), the construction signage, cones, and barricades could not be taking down until the ‘official’ inspection was done and the project was signed off on by the State DOT, regardless of the completion date. Sometimes with such large amount of roadwork in an area this could take a few days to a few weeks. In such a case, even though the actual work has been completed, it’s still considered a construction zone until the State inspector gives it the OK.
