“”Public defender Richard Henderson called it a serious crime but said Becker has “a pile of problems that are not any of his own making.†Becker was born with fetal alcohol and drug syndrome and was abandoned as a child. It’s too bad that his mom ‘used’ while pregnant with him and then abandonded him, but nonetheless he is 20 years old. He knows right from wrong. He knew what he was doing in that CU was wrong. Whether you have severe depression, bi-polar, or whatever, you know right from wrong. I hope the Judge and Prosecuter are right, but I know this kid and I feel pretty confident in saying, this wont be the last time.
Why is it, in our society today when a major crime, or a gun crime, is committed by a young offender with an oppressed background we feel sorry for them and let them off easy?

5yr sentence? He had a gun! He will find himself pretty lucky when he starts looking around at his fellow inmates to find most of them are doing longer sentences for non violent crimes. The prosecutor stated he could have chance to turn his life around (LOL). Employers are not in search of bank robbers, good luck with finding a job. The worse part about this case is he may have some mental illnesses; they don’t treat these in prison. The prison doctor will have him medicated to the nuts for his entire sentence, then dump out to the streets where he is useless and boom we have a potentially violent mental running around again.
