Every time a West Fargo resident says that Fargo residents should pay for the diversion in special assessments because the West Fargo residents do, I just smile, because we do pay special assessments for flood protection projects. I have at least one on my property tax right now for a Rose Coulee project done 7 years or so ago. Residents on the North side are paying for the increased dike protection and house removal project along the red near the VA Hospital. So we are paying for flood projects along the mighty Red River with special assessments and have been paying for protection for a long time. We also pay for building and lowering the 2nd street dike every few years. Fixing the park properties along the river each and every time out of property taxes and that list is very big.
