Ooooohhh…Cable 1 donates ONE YEAR of free service!! Wow..how generous! Probably gave them the basic package…slow internet…and will charge them for call waiting! Typical! Why even print that in the story? It’s a non gift compared to all the others!!

I’m sorry, but has there ever been an issue of any paper that had only stories you wanted to read? The headlines did exactly as they should have, they told you what the story was about, you weren’t interested, and you moved on.

I’m loving all the stories! I wish I could have taken part, but that was not possible. How can you look at the picture here of a young brother and sister sharing a moment like that and not be moved? G-Shep: No one forces you to read anything. Tired of it? Move on. Go to the NY Times if you need a fix of violence, murder and gunfire. I prefer a little good news with my morning coffee.

I haven’t been brainwashed by Hollywood, I just know how grateful they are and how much they give to others… both in tangible goods AND kindness. How awful some people can’t find generosity in their own hearts.

There is generosity and there is excess. These people got free new houses, were 40,000.00 scholarships necessary? Are there not other needy local kids who could benefit from a free ride to college?

Who are you to tell a private college who to donate to? They can spend their money however they would like, as can everybody else who donated.
If you don’t like it, don’t donate. Simple concept. But evidently not simple enough to keep you from complaining about it.

You have to remember, in this region there is a large number of people who have the mentality that nobody deserves anything more than them, no matter how big of a loser they are or what the other people have done to get to where they are.

FORUM/WDAY/ABC will make millions off of this, and all the stories, etc.
EVERYTHING was donated for this house, FORUM/WDAY/ABC didnt have to provide anything out of pocket, and where will the MILLIONS of AD revenue go? right in their pockets.

I think a lot of you would feel differently if someone in YOUR family had been selected to receive a handicap-accessible house for a child. And for those of you who are unhappy about the whole process, from the selection all the way through to the scholarships, I suggest you start your own program to give to those you consider worthy. Because people (like you) keep clicking on the stories and then comment about them. This makes them popular. Clicks = advertising hits = $$$ for Forum Communications.
Nobody is forcing you to look at these stories. If you don’t like them don’t read them. There are other things to read about, this is the internet after all.

I wasn’t happy with them getting a”free” house since they were a well off family. Obviously the house was good enough to reuse. Now let’s give them free college, tv, internet and phone plus sums of cash. Seriously enough is enough!!! How about we give 1/3 this amount of help to those from the apts on 42 and their pets and actually help those in need. Of course they were in there with rent based off income so they won’t get much help. FM only helps those well off get better. Guess what Fargo

How do you know this family is well off? Are you there when they pay their bills every month? Do know what this family has gone through? No you probably have no idea. Yes there is a lot of deserving families in this area that could use some help and wouldn’t it just be a perfect world if everyone could have this chance of a lifetime! But life isn’t perfect so just be happy for someone else!!

You’re full of it if you think everyone born with a disability gets coverage if the family is above the poverty level. That’s just flat out false.

Jay you really do have no clue at all. Yeah, free healthcare because a person is born with a disability. The benefit amount is determined by income not by the fact that you have a disability. Even if their healthcare is 100% paid as you think, do you have any idea what it costs for all the other things they need, like special shoes, orthotics, wheelchairs, lifts? You think all that is ‘given’ to families with special needs kids? Do you know what a hand powered bike costs so a kid can feel like a kid and go for a bike ride with his/her friends and family? You don’t know what it is like to have to buy special equipment for a child so they can FEEL like a kid and enjoy at least one or two things every other kid in the world can.
You obviously do not know this family. They did not ask for this, they were nominated and WON this. If you were selected for a prize like this would you just say, no thanks? They did not ask for any of the other things that have been thrown in like the scholarships, free cable etc… You are crucifying a family because they won something. That is just pathetic. First you complain because the family is ‘well off’ in your eyes then in another post you complain about how previous winners of extreme makeovers lose their houses and can’t afford to stay in the houses and what a fraud the show is. Great, you don’t like the show, why are you reading all the articles about it then? You are just a complainer and I feel sorry for you.
