Abbey Edmundson, in the foreground, enjoys playing a bean bag toss game during the recently held Grow to Share community gardens harvest celebration. Edmundson was one of over 100 people who stopped by the gathering that was held Sept. 12 at the garden site, just east of Hoffman Park. Free food was offered by area companies, who also provided prizes for games and a silent auction. Lurene Johnson of Spring Valley won a garden shed/greenhouse in a raffle at the event. The celebration, the first of its kind for the garden group, marked more than 20,000 pounds for food that’s been harvested this year, with more soon to be harvested before winter.
