Watch Bristol Palin exclusively on Inforum
October 6, 2010 at 7:57 am in INFORUM
Bristol Palin, who narrowly escaped elimination on Tuesday’s episode of “Dancing with the Stars,” will open up about her life and unplanned pregnancy in an exclusive interview tomorrow (Thursday) on InForum.com. Continue Reading

A couple other followup questions I’m dying to ask Bristol…
#1. Bristol Palin do you not believe it is hypocritical to be an advocate for abstinence until marriage?
#2. Why would you go around advocating a position you have already publicly said “isn’t realistic at all
#3. Why do you continue to promote the lie that abstinence education is the best sex education a young, hormone-filled teen could get?
#4. Can you publicly admit that a comprehensive science based, reality based, sex education platform should be the methodology used to teach today’s teens about sex in the 21st century?
Because as I see it, you, Bristol “abstinence is not realistic” Palin, were an obviously poorly supervised, sexually active, underage drinking, gang sign making, unemployed, uneducated, non-self supporting, unmarried, teen mother who referred to herself as a sl_t on her Facebook Page (her words not mine) , who then decideds that a future paid gig to be a spokesperson for abstinence is a wise career move?
What does this communicate to little Tripp? No matter how many times Bristol says he’s a blessing and not a mistake, the fact that she’s telling other teens not to have children strongly implies that she wishes she had done something else. In other words, sad as it is to say it, she wishes she hadn’t given birth to him.
Of course, Tripp isn’t old enough to understand this now, but in a few years, he’ll learn about this and it won’t make him feel happy and secure. How would you like it if your mother made it her official role to tell the world not to follow her example and have a child?
Bristol is entitled to her private thoughts and even if she feels deep down that she shouldn’t have given birth, she needs to make the best of the situation and keep those negative thoughts to herself. Making her child feel wanted and secure should be her priority.
Preventing teen pregnancy is a good idea and Bristol should let some other celebrity, perhaps a single person who in fact practices abstinence, be the spokeswoman for abstinence.
Bristol should immediately drop this teen ambassador role and quietly concentrate on finishing her education and raising her son. That’s more than enough responsibility for a teenager.
I’m not trying to judge Ms. Palin for her being sexually active as a teen. I’m all for teaching safe sex done responsibly, and not trying to promote the fallacy of total teen abstinence.
Bristol is the poster child for why abstinence-based programs don’t work. At all. The research shows that those kids get pregnant at HIGHER rates than if they received education about birth control.
Bristol IMNSHO you seriously need a “Reality Check”

Sorry to tell you this but the latest research into sex education has proven that abstinence based programs are the BEST at preventing teen pregnancies. Are they 100%? not at all. But the rates of pregnancy are lower than the other programs. The truth is no program is 100%. Both should be taught with parents deciding which classes their child should take. As for the issue of parent of Trigg and Trip, Any medical doctor will tell you it is not possible to deliver a full term baby and then deliver another full term baby 4-5 months later. You just make yourself look like a fool with that claim.

Please cite your source(s) Glen of the “latest research”, showing that abstinence based programs are the “best”.
Until then, I’ll instead, leave you with sources that refute that ancient logic promoted by religous fundies:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/12/28/AR2008122801588.html
http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN1423677120070414
http://aspe.hhs.gov/hsp/abstinence07/index.htm.
This last example was a US Dept of Health and Human Services report released in 2007 that irrefutably found that :
1. “Abstinence-only education programs meant to teach children to avoid sex until marriage failed to control their sexual behavior”
2. Teenagers who took part in the programs as elementary and middle school students were just as likely to have sex as those who did not take part in them
3.”This data supports what a growing body of public health evidence has indicated: Abstinence-only programs don’t protect teen health”
“In short, American taxpayers appear to have paid over one billion federal dollars for programs that have no impact.”
The report said the federal government has spent $87.5 million annually since 1998 for abstinence-only education programs

Glen, any reliable data to back up the abstinence claim? Everything I’ve read indicates an abstinence AND scientific blend program is the most effective in curbing teen pregnancy.

Try this link to the NY times. Abstinance based programs do have an impact and do work. But as I stated they are not the only answer for every child. This clearly makes a lie of those claims that it has no influence and should never be offered. Clearly it should in the end be the parents choice.

It crazy to think someone shelled out thousands of dollars to have her speak. I am sure there were more than enough qualified women in the area to speak, probably for free. Have they disclosed her paycheck for this engagement?

Bristol, I’m not only a relatively ordinary person, I’m also male, have no kids, and don’t have a former governor of Alaska, let alone any state, for a mom. I can, however, dance.
What are the odds that I could appear on “Dancing With The Stars” like you did, despite my total lack of stardom?

What are the odds Hillary Clinton would be elected senator of New York or made secretary of state despite a lack of any real accomplishments of her own. Zero. Oh that’s right she was married to a President so I guess she’s entitled.

simple why she is on there, some producer on the show thought if she were on the show it would increase viewers. Increase viewers = increase income. It is as simple as that. If they thought you would increase viewers you to would be on the show. That is how the entertainment industry works. If people stopped reading about the Palin family members and stopped commenting about them the news would stop reporting on them. But as long as people read and comment and pay attention they will stay in the news because the news companies make money off it.

Sarah Palin and her entire family are media hogs. The worst of the worst. I am embarrassed to be a woman at times. I mean who would go on Kate plus 8 and all the other crazy stuff she goes on. She quit her job as governor only to concentrate on becoming a celebrity. Dancing with the stars would be a NO for me! I could not be torn away from my child to do something so frivolous. (Now, a chance to take my family to Haiti to help, I would not pass up) I agree with the sexism comments though. I think it is terrible to say she is chunky when she is clearly a healthy average girl. The same thing happend to Brittany Spears. It is no wonder why girls/women in our society are pressured to have eating disorders and made to feel bad about themseleves.

Oh wait, yes I can, but decorum prevents me from discussing it here.

She’s not really going to talk about how “abstinence only” works? What if her parents were, oh, a clerk at Target and an unemployed electrician? What if she had no famous parents but had to either pay her own way or go on welfare? I hope she’ll discuss those issues as well, because that’s the world that most young women face. Does she really think that the notoriety from Dancing with The So-Called Stars will help her become a responsible parent? Oh lordy. I give up.

Oh, Marty……. This young woman with so many privileges will be trying to influence so many others without the family, money, or fleeting fame. It’s not jealousy — I’ve just been around long enough to see how some of these things work out. Perhaps instead of hearing from Ms. Bristol, folks should be hearing from young mothers on welfare which is where most end up.

Grandma they do not pick those people because they do not have the name. the idea is to gain coverage of the issue to create press. Bristol Palin does that. By the way she grew up middle class. the Palins did not make a ton of money until after she was an adult. So while she does have the advantage of a wealth family support now, she did not when growing up. She is not the first young woman to have her pants charmed off by some smooth talking charlitan and she will not be the last. This is not about a political stance, it is about raising money and awareness for young mothers.

That’s brilliant, Gramma! Have some welfare-sucking loser teach the other little pregnant girls how to become even more welfare-sucking losers. Of course, well, I’ll just toss this out there….You COULD have someone successful for them to look UP to. You COULD, in addition, show them the paths to finishing High School and completing College or a Trade school so they can support themselves and their child, start a career, maybe someday marry a really nice man. Nawwww, that would be stupid. They should be taught by gutter trash so they can become gutter trash, too. If too many of them actually succeed in life, then the liberal agenda goes *poof.*

Hmmmm….”only a clerk at Target”…that would mean that her parent was a person that had not done anything to further their family’s “life” and bred indiscriminately? Of course, there would be the exception of the person working at Target due to Obama’s mess of an economy. I just remember when I was of the age that I would be considering having children, I made darn sure (and abstinence was part of it) that I had no chance of getting pregnant. It can be done and it has.

A few weeks ago I went on and on regarding this topic. I stand by my original statement that Ms Palin probably does not best represent the young women served by the Perry Center. Nor is she probably an accurate representation of the life that could be attained by a woman utilizing the services of the Perry Center.

Sooooo, a young woman who happens to be the daughter of people who are moderately successful has NO business advising other young women who might be in the same predicament as she was? Are you guys insinuating that getting pregnant is solely the domain of “white trash” and “minorities?” I just can’t get why you think that Bristol is, in some way, disqualified from being a human female just because of her parents’ political status.
According to some Libs, the young ladies with some modest “means” would be more able to secure an “abortion”/dismemberment and brutal murder of their BABY.) Isn’t this a contradiction? Or, maybe, the Palins taught their Daughter to love and value life and to live by a moral Code dictated by Christians.

That’s a great comment mammabear. I think Bristol is perfect for talking to other young women in the same situation. Because of her mother Bristol was already in the public eye and people will at least take note of what she says. What great publicity for those having her speak. A great comment and some good questions from Misty also.

My 4 questions (and 1 comment) are:
1. Have you had any responses to your speeches that give you encouragement to keep going even with all the critisism?
2. What do you do that’s just for you & makes you happy?
3. When is your Dad, Willow orTrack going to be able to watch a performance?
4. What do you think media can do better to get the word out to girls about thinking about having sex?
My comment is that I hope you are having a blast (I’m sure you are) on DWTS and continue to have great opportunities come your way.

Sundown only someone like you would follow the hypocrites of the political party they embrace. Palin plays verbal shell games and lacks the knowledge to even know what misleading comments she has made. As far as her daughter is concerned, she really made the case of her hypocritical mother saying one thing but doing the opposite. How does someone like her get on dancing with the stars? Well that is easy, have a mother who pretends to be concerned for American values, then make sure reality TV and anyone else enlarges your bank account, that is really what it is all about. Talk about the suckers of this country, there is no doubt they are among us. I guess I could care less but most of us see it for what its worth.
