Michelle Bachmann is one of the best things to hit the political arena in a long, long time. Her grandstanding antics represent the worst of her party. She offers no viable solutions other than ‘change’ and ‘take back America’. What does that mean, exactly?
She makes the cause of moderates so very much easier. Thank you Michelle.

Keillor is an author of fiction and an entertainer – period. Just because he’s an angry, crazy, wacked-out-left-wingnut does not make him qualified to sway anyone’s opinion. I have no idea why anyone gives a rats butt about this idiot’s political views.

MB is neither an entertainer nor a writer, she has fewer qualifications than my dog, being a right wingnut does not make her useful for anything, let alone demonstrating an actual opinion. her biggest problem is that she will make an outrageously stupid statement, then deny she said , and in the outburst repeats her absurdity. An idiot would be an improvement.

That’s the problem, MB supports a MORE intrusive government, one that prohibits abortion, one that restricts one’s choice in marriage, one that requires religious adherence through prayer in public schools, one that prohibits health care for those that need it most by denying coverage for pre-existing conditions, one that denies equality for all religious beliefs, one who would insist on conforming to her ideology investigating those who do not as non American. I could go on but the list is endless, she simply does not understand economic theory, who calls anyone to her left a socialist, who seems not to even understand the constitution; she should be embarrassed for her ignorance.

Mike you are truly so stuck on polictical lines, Bachman could have committed a bank robbery in broad daylight in front of a dozen witnesses and you would still have an excuse for her. I am not concerned with who is running against her, whether it would be another GOP or a DFL, am concerned with the very insentive and misinformed comments she laced the public with. She accused the whitehouse of extorting BP and once again her lack of knowledge and information has come back to haunt her. The ego sytem took a direct hit, and marine life and jobs were lost as a result of a company who engaged in shortcuts to save a few bucks on the bottom line, something this country has seen repeated over the last eight years. I could care less what party she represents, because that comment was not only reckless, but insensetive, and outrageous, that many people could not believe Bachman made it. This by no means surprised me seeing she has made other embarrassing and reckless statements in the past that border on radical behavior and should be a real concern to voters. To watch countless marine life being plucked from our ocean, covered in oil, brought a tear to my eye. Millions of gallons of oil spilled from the bowels of the damaged oil well where 11 workers lost their lives, the beaches contaminated, and human life in danger, and she comes up with this garbage! People lost jobs as their way of life was snatched from under them in a blink of an eye! Now the blame seems to fall on Halliburton, Dick Cheney’s former company as BP has now pointed the finger at them, interesting. Then to find out that thousands of dollars was funneled into Bachmans campaign war chest by BP, has to have you wondering just who does this women really cater to? Its obvious its not the people of Minnesota or why else would a politician make such an idiotic comment? Hey lets not forget the other comments she made, that for the life of me didn’t have the GOP trying to gag this women, and shut her up. All I have heard from this women is mud slinging, negativity, and when her GOP rival struck back, Bachman stepped up her attacks performing her hypocritcal dialog and probably not even realizing she did it! BP responsible for the worst oil leak in history, also has the worst politician as a supporter, who is complete and utter embarrassment to Minnesota being responsible for the worst comment yet from a political puppet, and a glory hound. Why didn’t she vote for a pay cut while taking the so called government farm handout, something she seems to forget while on her campaign trail when she accused her rival of doing the same. All I can say is Bachman and Palin must come from the same type of radical families.

More jobs were lost by Obama’s moratorium on offshore drilling than were lost by the oil spill. The Gulf always has oil seeping into it from natural fissures in the earths’s crust. That’s why so many oil eating bacteria were present there and why so much of the oil has disappeared. I think the amount of damage has been exagerated. If Obama is so concerned about drilling in the Gulf why is the US lending PEMEX [Mexican state run oil company] $1 billion for drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. PEMEX doesn’t have a spotless record as far as oil spills either. Obama is the biggest embarrassment of all.

Great post jimmy. Sundown, you have posted some of the most perverse logic I have seen in a while, justification upon justification for allowing environmental disaster, not only that but your conclusions are as perverse, not to say there is any fact in your claims.

Be specific Con Brio. Which fact do you dispute? I’m not saying the gulf wasn’t a disaster. I’m just saying it’s not as bad as the Chicken Little crowd is making it out to be.

“More jobs were lost by Obama’s moratorium on offshore drilling than were lost by the oil spill” Number one, BS. Number two, to use the “job loss” context to justify ignoring or minimizing the potential impact of the spill is simply disingenuous. The moratorium was justified in the wake of the explosion to assess the threat to resources, the level of damage, and the oversight and general management of offshore drilling in general. The moratorium did not cause job loss, but job deferment: oil workers will certainly be back on their jobs in no time, the fishing community and hospitality industries will take longer. Your use of the “Chicken Little crowd” is simply an undeserved denigration and displays a contemptible attitude on your part, and wrong to boot.

The drilling moratorium only applies to oil rigs drilling for US companies. If Obama was so concerned why is his administration loaning over $1 billion to PEMEX so the Mexican company can drill while rigs working for the US are idled? Instead of setting a 6 month moratorium it would have made considerably more sense to say drilling will be halted until we find the cause of the leak and put measures in place to make sure it doesn’t happen again. The risk of deep water drilling can’t be entirely eliminated but it can be reduced. I guess Obama lied when he declared in June that Gulf beaches were clean and safe and seafood taken from the Gulf is safe to eat. I stand by my assertion that much of the oil is gone. Probably the majority of it evaporated into the air. Also as I said because the Gulf always has some oil seeping into it naturally there are a lot of oil consuming bacteria present that also removes some of the oil. I agree some damage was done to marshes and wildlife but with time they too will recover.

“The latest KSTP Truth Test showed the truthfulness of Tarryl Clark’s newest ad. She received an F.” Much like the ad regarding Clark saying she reduced her compensation and asking Bachman to cut her pay. Compensation and pay are two different items but Clark has always been sly with words. Seems Clark voted for a 45% increase in her daily perdiem but voted against the reduction in a later vote. I will give her credit in reducing her submissions for reimburseable expenses. I don’t know why people support a candidate who, it would appear, cannot get a passing grade on a KSTP Truth test. Seems a lot more of her ads don’t seem to measure up to being honest and truthful. While she says she supports “ALL” Minnesotans, why is she only running for the Sixth District and will only represent her special interests, not from here, but those in Washington DC ? I don’t think we want that kind of person with questionable honesty representing a district from Minnesota in Washington DC. JMHO.

I certainly would not give KSTP anything higher than a d on their truth test, but Bachmann is a much a failure on that count as you claim for Tarry l Clark, Whether truthful in advertising or not, MB is fundamental unqualified to hold her post. She constantly makes outlandish statements , only to deny them in her next breath, and then repeat them later. MB is an embarrassment to the republican party, not just the 6th district.

I used to live in the 6th district, I moved for two reasons: life is much better up here at the edge of wilderness, and two, Michele Bachmann was too much of an embarrassment. I was a delegate to two DFL conventions trying to unseat her. I have met her on the hill, lobbied her for some very popular causes, but have concluded her interest is not in the district, but in promoting her own causes. In short, MB is
“a clueless lunatic “. Vote Tarryl Clark.

Con Brio posted ” Let’s try again: what would YOU do a president, senator, congressman, or governor.” Little risque there, aren’t you? Seems this follows the methods of Clark using expletives in her current ads to arouse her supporters. With regards to your lobbying comments about Bachman, you seem to be a clairvoyant as to what action she took – maybe you should wonder if your arguments and facts were not convincing which you seeem to readily admit.
