UMD volleyball coach Jim Boos received a $17,000 raise this year, bringing his annual base salary up to $68,000. Women’s hockey coach Shannon Miller is the highest paid coach at UMD.

First, why does the DNT put this story out now? Was this not news 3 months ago?
Second, invest in people? The only person Bob Neilson is fooling with that statement is himself. Perhaps a follow up article idea would be to talk with those that he thinks he as invested in. I would be intersted in how the rest of the athletics staff, assistants, medical, office, etc., stack up against the same in their conference or nationally. Why do they seem to have such a large turnover in staff if they invest in people? Good for Jim Boos to be smart enough to realize that the only way UMD was going to “invest in him” and give him the deserved raise, was to force their hand. Wake up Bob.
