Tea party scores big victories in primary elections
September 15, 2010 at 3:05 am in Grand Forks Herald
After a primary season shaped by economic pain and exasperated voters, the grass-roots, anti-establishment tea party movement can claim wins in at least seven GOP Senate races, a handful of Republican gubernatorial contests and dozens of House primary campaigns, and it influenced many others. Continue Reading

With the millions and millions of dollars worth of free publicity that the TEA Partiers get from Fox “news” and Rush/Beck/Hannity/Hennen type radio shows/stations, every time a TEA Party candidate DOESN’T win, I’m surprised. I’m thrilled, but not surprised.

Why not elaborate Zardoz — just what is this “sanity” you are expecting? These candidates keep on saying they will “reclaim America.” Reclaim from whom — and just what will they substitute if they get the chance? (Judging by O’Donnell it could be putting god everywhere, and banning masturbation?!).

How about start with now borrowing more then we can ever repay. Obama has spent us more into debt then the rest of US history COMBINED. That is insane.

I am an independent who leans left on some issues, mostly economic, and right on other issues, mostly social. I believe a strong reasonable Republican Party is necessary to counter-balance the wacko extreme left. (I do not view Obama is an extreme leftist. If he has disappointed anyone, it is those on his left. Those on the right never gave him a chance. They hated him from the beginning.) The Tea Party may win primaries, but I do not believe they will win many of the actual races. I predict that in most instances where they unseated the Republican Party’s preferred candidate, the Tea Party candidate will lose. The throw-the-bums out mentality may send a message, but it is not good in the long run. There is no inherent virtue in lack of experience.

I’m a Democrat who leans right on economic issues. I believe there will be some Tea Party candidates who win this November (there is a lot of anti-government sentiment out there), and when they get to Washington they’ll say no… for about two weeks. It’s easy to say “I’m against Washington” on the campaign trail, but it’s much tougher to say no to the individual cases that will come to your door. I haven’t seen a single Tea Party activist who has the intestinal fortitude, practical experience or even theoretical education to deliver on the promises they make.

Palin vs Rove. Nothing good can come out of this. Funny how the top 2% make a killing when the rest of the country is in the ditch-why is that? That trickle down voodoo cost us over 800,000 jobs thanks to the republican policies of the last decade.

Christine O’Donald restoring sanity????? This from the woman who said she didn’t know why she had a tax lien from the IRS–because you didn’t pay your taxes, duh! For anyone who believes her story that the IRS made a mistake and then apologized–i have some ocean front property in ND for you at a real reasonable price. The IRS doesn’t just slap a lien on you out of the blue–it follows miles of letters, phone calls, etc. She also had a house reposessed, is using campaign money to live on, owed the college she went to money–she is going to restore one thing to the country–some slick lies.

Intresting, were not a number of those in the current administration delinquent in taxes before they were nominated for their posts, some for years??? And suddenly nthis is a huge issue for the Dems???

Well, I guess the Republican strategy to sit on the sidelines and do nothing in both houses of congress isn’t working for them. People are getting tired and restless about the monkey business in Washington and are looking for something different. If tea party candidates win in November we’ll see if they can govern or work with others. After all the queen of the tea party, Sarah Palin, couldn’t even finish her term as governor and quit. We’ll see if any of these tea party folks can do the job.

John I think if you check the record the Dems had a super majority in both house of congress. The Dems did not need to listen to the Repubs or include them in governing…. and that is exactly what the Dems chose to do. They never even allowed the Republicans, and the dems had the power to do so, to sit at the table. Believe me it was not the Republican strategy it was what the “super majority” allowed.

Tea Party will be making leaps and bounds, as most Americans are fed up the other parties. The big question is will they actually be able to walk the walk? I don’t believe so. A duck will always quack, a dog will bark and a politician will be a politician.
