“The district is taking on the printing costs.” Why not publish the school paper on the district’s web site and SAVE the printing costs? What an opportunity to get the kids more immersed in using technology to disperse and access information. The site could have its own page for these kids’ focus in other areas also!

“Silver Bay schools will have an orchard planted near the football field with the help of Statewide Health Improvement Program grant money. “…Anyone care to wager on how long productive use of this concept will last? If it holds up, great. I just hope everyone realizes the focus that will be required to tend this orchard, protect it from pests, and harvest the fruit. Particularly during the off months in the summer. Couldn’t the money have been used in a more direct and easily manageable approach to addressing healthy eating habits…and have the approach useful all year round? I’m really having a hard time with this idea…but I hope I’m proved wrong.
