The number of Park Point pine trees on the chopping block because of Federal Aviation Administration concerns may have been greatly reduced.

Anyone else secretly wishing for a wicked Lake Superior wind storm to just blow the trees down and be done with it? I bet it wouldn’t cost $5 million to clear them away.

$873,000 to determine if some trees need to be axed. No wonder we are broke. Give me 5 guys 1 plane and an afternoon and I can come up with a plan. That is insane. Just more pan fried pork spending money if you ask me.

take a gallon of gas and light it up, then replant with trees that don’t grow so tall

Blame OUR Rulers in Washington. The edict comes down from ON HIGH – Cut down trees or spend $75 million. Hey Oberstar, have you noticed your boys are causing us a little problem here? How about a little, you know, help.

An enterprising reporter might ask some of the customers of Ski Harbor: Do you think the trees are a problem? Is the airport losing business because of this condition?
We don’t even know if there is a problem here or it’s just the unthinking blank eyed staring bureaucrats enforcing their one size fits all rules on everyone.

Wasn’t that area once inhabited by native americans and fur traders? There was also several areas used for burials. I feel that sometimes Duluth is too quick to use the “build it and they shall come” theory. I feel the trees should be left alone.

Well like I said in another story about this, these same CAVE people whining about the trees, are they willing then to accept aircraft wreckage and body parts strewn across their lawns if the unfortunate were to happen?
We need to protect those trees on Park Point. They already cut the trees and put up a fence not that long ago. Now they want more again. There probably is no reason for Sharla Gardner to apologize to anyone.

They being Federal Bureaucrats. Our representatives to the Federal government should call them off, or else THEY should apologize – for being useless slugs.

I’ve got a chainsaw if anyone is interested. On second thought, I’ve got a solar powered chainsaw, but that won’t help you in your midnight tree trimming. Does anybody one an eco-friendly electric or battery powered chainsaw? Maybe we can arrange a fly-over for Jim Oberstar so he can pull a Wellstone over them and burn the whole mess down.
