not to mention all the fee increases. Various professional licenses have gone up. the state surcharge on building permits has risen enormously. the fees paid by contractors, to get their licenses to register bonding and insurance and to conduct business legally have risen. Anyone who hires a carpenter, plumber, or electrician is paying for these fees in higher prices from the contractors. there are many other fees and surcharges collected by the state of MN that have gone up and those the rising costs of doing business have to be passed on to the consumer. call it a fee or surcharge, it is still a tax.
