I’m certainly not a civil engineer, but still, I would think that there’s something that could be changed to prevent this type of flooding along Grand Ave. This has been a problem for a long time in several areas. Anyone who travels through West Duluth regularly can tell you that the street gets immensely flooded near Raleigh St. every time there’s the slightest bit of rain. And that spot in 88th where the cars were stuck is a horrible stretch of road during storms, as it basically acts as a water runoff area from each direction. With the amount of money that is spent annually on street repairs in Duluth, you’d think that they could find a way to prevent important streets from having a foot of standing water.

Our basement got a little wet, and I heard one wet-dry vacuum at a neighbors house. A real ‘gully washer!’

How about, if you see 2 to 3 feet of water in front of you, find another route? I don’t see the sense in spending untold dollars for a very infrequent “problem”.
