Sen. Franken apologizes for irritating GOP leader
August 6, 2010 at 4:23 am in West Central Tribune
WASHINGTON – Sen. Al Franken apologized Thursday for being rude to Sen. Mitch McConnell as the Senate’s top Republican was winding up a solemn debate on the nomination of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court. Continue Reading

As usual the Minnesotan DFLer did the Damage(mud slinging). He got the Job done, and then preaches other-wise . My guess or comment, is that Al F. thought his work(what he was doing while the GOP Sen.was speaking ) was funny and that he could get the whole Senate to laugh with him and not hear the other Senator speaking.

Gee b.a.c., a quick search of the internet would have told you that Rep Joe Wilson did apologize, even though he spoke the truth. We have seen nothing but lies and half truths from this administration since the beginning. Your inability to check the facts is what I would expect from an ALF supporter

Accidental senator! Are you talking about Norman Coalman? The only reason he got elected was by accident, a real accident. He ran against a dead guy and squeaked out a victory. Now the there is a story out about how Coalman was wandering through the Somali communities enticing them to vote for him using some trumped up promises of more welfare. Sounds like a typical lap dog repub. Coalman did not have a single accomplishment in 6 years. He should have spent less time licking Bush’s butt and more time being concerned about Minnesota. At least Franken is a Minnesota native unlike Coalman and his east coast accent.

In four years we’ll still be able to debate this if he is successful with his net neutrality petition. Al is a senator who doesn’t just crony to the president – like our last senator stooge did – he’s working for the people.

You mean like the repubs do for 8 years of Bush! Like Quayle always says “It isn’t my fault, I’m a Republican!” And so it goes. The party of no brains. Not you say? Palin, Bush, Quayle, Limbag, Hamity, Bick, ya, ya, ya. I find it interesting that repubs might say things like Katrina happened because God wanted to publish gays. If that is true, why is Glenn Beck going blind and Limbag going deaf? Are they being punished by God for crimes against humanity? That would be my guess. Become a repub, go blind! Scary thought.

Al is, and forever will be, a buffoon. it is what he is and we all need to face it. the truth is we had no real choice last election. it was a choice of voting for one bad apple or the other bad apple. there are good democrats and good republicans who are to smart to run for public office, we just need to convince them.

Al is no dummy — as some have posted here. He graduated from HAVARD with a degree in Political Science. How many of the Franken haters think they could get admitted to Harvard? Let’s see now — oh yes, their candidate, Sarah Palin, attened 6 colleges in 5 years. None of these colleges were top schools by any means. Oh, and Sarah didn’t even complete her term as govenor of Alaska . Dropped out half way through her first term. As for McCain (the other half of the Republican ticket in the last presidential election) — he graduated at the bottom of his military class. Oh well….. Give ‘em hell Al!!! Shake ‘em up. Call them out when they lie and obstruct.

Sorry about the typo. Al Franken graduated from HARVARD with a degree in Political Science. He has gone to Iraq and Afghanistan several times to entertain our troops. He cares about our military and the sacrifices are men and women have made both to themselves and to their families. Al cares for people and that what a senator should do. I predict that Al will have no problem getting reelected.

“Franken made theatrical gestures and whispered under his breath as the Kentucky senator spoke.” Wow. So tar and feather him. He actually whispered under his breath–omgosh! So what. He apologized – that’s what a MAN does when he feels he’s done something wrong. Did Cheney ever apologize for his, “Go F yourself” remark on the floor? I don’t quite remember. Hmmmm. Oh that’s right. He didn’t. His hunting partner did, however, apologize after Cheney shot him in the face if I remember correctly. Nice article from the West Central Tribune. Must be that liberal, Hoolywood controlled media again. How is Dick Cheney doing these days? I only hear bits and pieces…

Harold — tell me where I was “mud slinging?. Sen. Al Franken — Graduated from HARVARD with a degree in Political Science. Sarah Palin — took 5 years to graduate. Attended 6 mediocre colleges to get a degree in Journalism. Funny, after all that time — doesn’t know the English language — “refudiate”. Has to ink notes on her hand because she can’t remember what she is talking about. Attacks the media/press at every turn but must have thought enough about the profession — JOURNALISM — to make it her major. As for McCain, yes, graduated at the bottom of his class at the U.S. Naval Academy (894th out of 899).
As for President Obama — he graduated from Columbia University and went on to graduate magna cum laude from Harvard Law School. These are the FACTS. No mud slinging here.

Al only graduated “cum laude” not “magna cum laude”. So what if a person goes to more than one school as long as they aren’t being kicked out of any of them? Not everyone can afford to go to an Ivy League university. Some of us have to work our way through college. Obama can’t remember what he’s talking about either without a teleprompter.

Michelle, not everyone agrees with your “facts”. And frankly (no pun intended) with the damage the “ivy league” elites like alf, obama hillary and others have done to this country I would personally prefer someone with a “run of the mill” college degree than these twits with degrees in poly sci or law. http://jbjd.org/2008/08/30/if-you-think-barack-obama-is-so-smart-prove-it/

Good golly Kerry I cannot believe you are trying to compare the colleges that the Adamses or Maddison attended to the schools that slick willie or bo attended. You do understand that these institutions of higher learning were founded as religious schools and as such the Adamses and Maddison as well as many of the founding fathers were vell versed in the Bible and Christianity. That hardly describes your heroes alf and bo. Anyone would be better than bo or alf no matter what college they came from or from no college at all. We would be much better off as a nation with out the likes of wilson or fdr.

I guess Abraham Lincoln would really be disqualified then since he only had around 18 months of schooling and was mostly self educated. His opponent in his re-election bid was General George McClellan who graduated second in his class of 59 cadets from the United States Military Academy [West Point].

Yes it’s such a shame when the people elect people who understand what it’s like to have to work for a living especially [gasp] those doing blue collar jobs. Much better to elect the patricians who don’t have a clue what it’s like to drive truck, farm, fish, or work at a service job for a living. And heaven forbid we would ever elect someone who went to school at SW State, SDSU, or the University of Minnesota. I mean, gosh, that might actually give ALF something in common with his constituents if he had gone to one of those lowly colleges.

Well, we know Obama didn’t come from money so, there’s a good chance he ‘worked’ for his money.
GW…well he mighta had to work hard to bankrupt that oil company his daddy gave him but, not sure what else might be on his resume under ‘work’.
Clinton…Can’t find where his family had any kind of money either so….maybe he actually worked?
GHW….Not sure if being an Ambassador is hard work or not.
Reagan….well he did earn his money but, we all know how well respected Hollwood actors are for their ‘work’.

Ya, I hear community organizing in Chicago is pretty hard work. At least Obama had some terrorist pals like Bill Ayers and crooks like Tony Rezko to give him good advice on how to handle all that hard work. Hillary most likely was supporting Slick Willie with her lawyer work and insider stock trading. Willie was a little too occupied with his extramarital affairs to be concerned about working.

I am so glad you mentioned George HW Bush though Katydid. Besides being the youngest Naval pilot at the age of 17 [saw action including being shot down into the sea] he was
1-Director of the Council on Foreign Relations
2-Chief of the US liason office to the People’s Republic of China
3-US Congressman from the State of Texas
4-Director of the Central Intelligence Agency
5-US Ambassador to the United Nations
6-Chairman of the Republican National Committee
7-Vice President of the United States
8-President of the United States
9-Founder of his own oil company
Okay he wasn’t really a blue collar worker but it does seem like he managed to find work throughout his life.

Well, I guess one dufus deserves another one. Minnesota had to endure four years of Jesse “The Body/Mind” Ventura (or whatever he calls himself these days) as governor. Now, Minnesota has to endure four more years of Al Franken as the state’s junior senator. (The term “junior senator” means he gets that title because Amy Klobuchar’s been in the Senate longer than him, thus earning her the title “senior senator”).
Yes, Franken did apologize later to Sen. Mitch McConnell (D-Ky.) the Senate Minority Leader. But, it sure must have been a slow news day on Capitol Hill for this event to even have gotten reported about.
Note to Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader: Don’t let Al Franken sit in the presiding officer’s chair anymore. He’s made an a jerk of himself at least twice now, while presiding over a floor session of the Senate. In accordance with the U.S. Constitution and laws, the Vice President of the United States is also the official President of the Senate. However, since the vice president rarely occupies the chair on a day to day basis, the job is mostly performed by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate. The job is usually given to the most senior senator of the majority party. In practice, the duties of the chair are generally passed around among the majority party senators; and they each take turns presiding over the Senate floor sessions.
