When I read the headline I wondered whether I would know who the soldier was. I do. Clayton was a friend of my daughter throughout high school. I’ve met him and chatted with him online when he was at the Naval Academy. I thought then that he was a great young man. After reading the article my previous evaluation was more than confirmed. He is truly one of the finest. I’ve always realized that when someone is killed or injured in defense of our country, that person is more than a number. They are someone’s father, son, brother, friend, etc. When something like this happens to someone one personally knows, the point gets hammered home. The acknowledgement goes from the head to the heart. My wife’s and my prayers are with Clayton, his wife, and his parents and sisters.
