Ken Kennedy was my neighbor when I was a young boy. I have a lot of interesting and fun stories about Ken and I.
He called me one day and asked me if I could walk his youngest son Steve, to Horace Mann School, when he first started school. I agreed, and our friendship grew.
One time he painted up my face, like Ole Anderson, which he used to dress up like for his late night TV show. He also gave me Christmas presents, for walking his son to school.
He use to do the Noonday TV show. They had a contest, where they showed a shadow of something, and the viewers would write in and try to guess what the shadow was.
One shadow was giving people a hard guessing what it was,and it went on for weeks.
Well, one day my mother jokingly said, why don’t you ask Ken’s son Steve, what the shadow is? So I did.
Little did we know, but little Steve knew what it was, it was a piece of popped popcorn.
My mother called Ken and apologised for me asking. Ken told my mother Steve was right, but just could not understand how his boy kid knew. Therefore, Ken told this story on Noonday and the shadow had to be changed. We all had a good laugh over it afterwards.
Ken was a wonderful and caring person. Every time I tell my shadow story, I think of the good times I had with Ken and his family.
