Teen survives lightning strike with good humor

Austin Shinler started running a only month ago, so on Tuesday when he ran four miles from his grandfather’s cabin near Spirit Mountain to Bardon’s Peak on West Skyline Parkway, the 16-year-old realized he didn’t have the energy to run back. His cousin, who was riding his bike with Shinler, went to get their grandfather.

Glad he is ok, it was quite the awesome storm to watch (and of course my camera was at home, miles from where I was!). However, this is Minnesota, more specifically, Duluth Mn. Who goes jogging in this area without checking the forcast at least once within 24 hours? It was forcast to rain and storm all day and into the evening, all the news outlets had been saying that for at least 16 hours prior to this storm, and yet, there’s always someone…(and no I don’t buy the “he’s from out of town” excuse).
