I was opposed to the 4 day week plan initially, but the more I’ve digested it, the more it makes sense to cut back non-education costs, like mileage, bus drivers, kitchen, custodial, etc., than it does to increase class sizes or cut programs. Some have said its not fair to disproportionally cut those staff people, but in the big picture, the school district is about funding education and not funding peripheral employment opportunities. Its a big paradigm shift, but fifth day options could be a silver lining. btw, I voted yes to all levy questions.
