While I am concerned about the education of our children here in Morris, I am very concerned about the viability of the budget. I don’t feel the school board and the administration are being held accountable when it comes to its unnecessary expenditures. An example would be the decision to maintain an extra kindergarten classroom for just 7 children/ every other day. Those children could be integrated into the all day/ everyday classrooms. Just have the children attend every other day. Every penny counts in this economy and all of the extra fat needs to be cut. Every piece of paper counted and each staff member needs to be frugal and responsible.
As of right now, unless the school board and administration can show me they are truly using their money wisely, I am voting no on the levy. I know a lot of others are too. Times are tough in our world and money is limited and extremely tight.

Voters at West Central Area will be asked this fall to approve a $1,370 per pupil local property tax levy. Currently it sits at $950 per pupil, although it expires next year (going to zero). It will be very interesting to see how the public feels about a 44% tax hike on the local property tax rolls.
