Why doesn’t it say “When her son almost died from smoking unknown salts and spices?”
There’s no marijuana in this story, synthetic or otherwise.

Hi, Jack. I get your point. That’s simply what the drug is referred to as. But you are right. It technically has nothing to do with marijuana.
The chemical that is sprayed on the herbs mimics the effects of THC, so I think that’s how the name ‘synthetic marijuana’ came about.
When I write about this in the future I’ll try to be clear on all this. Thanks for the comment.
