Survey sheds light on Duluth attitudes

More Duluthians gave a positive rating this year than last about the overall quality of their lives, Duluth’s overall appearance and the likelihood that their family income will improve in the next six months.

They must have surveyed the high-income residents because they certainly didn’t come my way. Duluth has improved as far as appearances. However, they do nothing about bad landlords in the area and they allow them to get away with illegal practices. The Building inspectors only check what they have to here. In the cities, they check everything! They do their job. HRA inspectors approve apartments that shouldn’t be approved, Legal Aid only helps if your evicted and the city councilors don’t respond to complaints because I’ve written three of them and gotten nowhere. It’s all about politics and money and the hell with human rights and safety. What good are landlord/tenant laws in a city where they are not enforced?

I’m not sure I’d describe six-thousands of one percent of Duluth’s population a “broad base of residents.” But then I didn’t pay for the survey, either. I bet I could pay for a survey that shows results directly opposed to those in this survey. Funny how that works. And not the best thing to base important decisions on.
