It was a sad day for me on December 19th, 1985, as I went to Rogers funeral, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo. I am sure it was a sad day for his family, all baseball fans and friends of Roger Maris There were 12 pallbearers, including, Mickey Mantle, Whitey Ford, Whitey Herzog and Bod Allison, just to name a few. The Shanely Boy’s Choir sang, “Oh Happy Day”. Bobby Richardson gave the eulogy.
Today, I still look at the funeral bulletin that I saved for all these years. Now I am old and have a lot of health problems and have spent all of my savings on prescriptions. I am sad to say that I will try to sell this valuable funeral bulletin. I had it appraised at $2,500. If anyone is interested in this I am asking $1,500 for it. It is in fair condition, however, with the picture of Roger hitting his 61st home run an October 1, 1961 on the bulletin, it is priceless. I can be reached at my e-mail, if you click on my profile Brucealmighty you can get my e-mail address.
I will continue to love Roger Maris and, I know his family is doing good for Fargo Shanley and the Merit Care Cancer Center. I wish them well on all of their future gold tournaments.
I also believe Roger should be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, and restore his 61 home runs to be the only baseball player who beat Babe Ruth’s home run record; without muscle enhancing drugs.
To that I say Amen and Amen…

Correction. I meant to say, I know his family is doing good for Fargo Shanley and the Merit Care Cancer Center. I wish them well on all of their future golf tournaments.
They are golden also, raising money for cancer patients and for students at Shanley High School.
a big Thank You Maris family, and all who organize these golfing tournaments.
