Dorothy Hanson was a trailblazer.
She was the first waitress in a café in her hometown of Hankinson, N.D., and she was that community’s first coach of a girls softball team.

This was to me a fascinating read. I love hearing stories about how things used to be around here. Dorothy had a lot of courage to step out and deliver papers in a era when girls didn’t (normally) do that. That was really neat that she got a $25 prize; in that era it must have been like winning a fortune! I’ll be her mom was thrilled with the washing machine! I’d like to hear more about her life!
