Well, you have to give the guy credit for doing the right thing. He probably took note of how ugly it got with Al Weigel.

Besides Al Weigel, you need to add Joe Chapman, John Adams, Mr. Frantz from NDSU. Its amazing that people slither to other spots when their actions as a public official become public and their work is questioned. I for one think this is a CYA. Don’t forget the controversy with Mr. Huffman and the Urban Plains Center – he has flown under the radar long enough, we don’t need any public employee who thinks they can do what they want and violate policies. If he violated policies, he may well think there may be criminal charges against him for misuse of public funds – anyone remember Sandy Blunt from WSI????

Liberty: I have to agree with you, these leaders have pensions on the line, not all of them get a cushy bonus on the way out. Whatever happened to a second chance? Who wants to come to work every day and get the stare from everyone that would like to get rid of you, basically you see the writing on the wall, it becomes a hostile work environment and who wants that on a daily basis, not good for your health.

Then be up front, honest and ethical in your daily interactions to begin with and you won’t have the stress you are talking about. They still get their full pensions when they resign. No one likes their name being public and it can add stress, but I believe its self-imposed stress brought on by your actions.

controversy? You really should get your facts straight, Liberty. You’re probably the same type of person that likes to sit and complain the the school board doesn’t notify the public of things, but yet won’t take the time to attend meetings. Do your research and maybe get involved before you complain. Mr Huffman has done so many good things for this district and will be greatly missed. As for the city of Fargo and FPS, you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. Good luck in your next career step, Mr Huffman.

Are you saying he was not part of the controversy and was questioned on whether or not he was working for the school board or the Urban Plains Center and then later he quit the Urban Plains Center Board? Mr. Huffman was a public offical who violated policy and gets no sympathy from me. And don’t make assumptions about me – you know what happens when you assume… I loathe public officals who think they are above the law.

Liberty: I know that there is not a person on this board or on this planet that has not made a mistake, everyone is entitled to the “Wake up Call” so to speak and not get fired. I don’t believe you know for a fact that Al Wiegel received a pension, you have to do a certain amount of years to get that. In the Military it is 20 years. The state/Gov civilian job, I am sure you have to do a minimum of 20 to 30 years for a pension.

Next time, leave the personal attack out, Dave. It’s borderline, so I’m leaving it, but try rephrasing the “you’re probably the same type of person…” sentence in the future to tone back the snark.
