Power outage at Fox leaves ‘Idol’, ‘Glee’ fans in the dark Tuesday night

Area fans of FOX’s popular singing competition, “American Idol,” had to sit idle instead of watching Tuesday night’s semi-final.
A transformer blowout cut power to the local Fox affiliate KVRR leaving viewers in the dark about the second-to-last episode and the final time “Idol” judge Simon Cowell offered criticism on the popular show. Cowell is leaving the program after this season. Continue reading…

When a crisis like this hits a business, you really see what kind of managment team is in place – either they pass or they fail, usually in a big way. I think the KVRR management really dropped the ball on this. Yeah, they had an outage, stuff happens, they tried to deal with it. XCEL got thinks going for KVRR fairly quickly. But one would think that it would have been a fairly simple thing to put a “crawl” message on the bottom of the screen (once they were back on the air) so viewers could find out what happened. And it would have been really nice if they could have re-broadcast AI and Glee sometime late last night (they are 2 of the top-rated shows on TV now) – maybe announce the time(s) that they would be shown, so people could record them. But I guess that is too much to ask from a “seat-of-the-pants” local TV station – cripes, they don’t even have a website, do they?

Yes gobison, I watched the newscast. They did explain what happened. But afterward, we were treated to the reruns of Raymond, According to Jim, Frasier, etc, etc instead of the rebroadcast of the programming that we missed. If anyone had missed the newscast, they knew nothing about the outage. And if it’s true that their generator just did not start (as some have alleged), then their management team really is incompetent. Can someone tell me if KVRR has a website (other than a Facebook page)? If not, please come into the 21st Century Jim Shaw.

I actually find it amazing that KVRR does not have a website. How simple it would have been to put the information there!

The world would be a better place if folks were as passionate about helping others, as they are about shows like American Idol, Lost and Glee.
Hot debate. What do you think?

I solved the problem real time by going to ustream.com and watched both shows LIVE. Not a big deal…

KVRR does not have an official website. That is very surprising, particularly in this day and age of proliferation of the internet.
