FINLEY, N.D. – Michael Schumacher grew up watching his father, Pete, rush out of the house every time the fire alarm sounded in his hometown of Hope.

My recollection of fire calls was that a fire alarm had a whole bunch of people heading to the fire hall and a few always went to the joint to get a few cases of beer so the vols had some beer to drink while fighting the fire. I remember some so drunk they couldn’t hang on to the fire truck on the way back to the hall.
